New York - Nov 2010
A trip down memory lane - Photos start with the approach into La Guardia - right past the statue of Liberty, lower Manhattan,
We could see the spot where Sully miraculously landed his 737, and finally, Citi stadium.
We first visited friends and family on Long Island and Queens, then moved into Manhattan for more family and
friends and sightseeing while staying a few days at The Crowne Plaza, Times Square.
A great location and a great hotel. We drove into Brooklyn - very nostalgic - Just past Ebbet's field, or where it used to be - where the Dodgers lost to the Giants in 1954 and remembering Bobby Thompson. That year the Giants went on to win the World Series - they had to wait over 50 years to do it again.
We saw Atlantic Ave - Eastern Parkway - Grand Army Plaza, Prospect Park, (we used to ride horses there), the Brooklyn Public Library, Bedford Ave. down to Waldorf Ct. and then Ave J. A visit to Bette's house on E. 23rd, and Ave I, then over to Beford Ave. Brooklyn College, Midwood HS, Ocean Parkway, and down to the Belt Pkway, over to Poly Prep, and then Coney Island -
As you can see, the fall colors were in full splendor, and althought I'm sure it has been many times, I don't remember NY being this clear - We toured around Manhattan for 5 hrs - including a Circle Line tour. Have you ever seen the Statue of Liberty so beautiful - perhaps it's just me. Downtown Wall St looked great as well but thanks to 911, no more tours of the Stock Exchange, and no more cars - Oh yes - wonderful to see Ground 0 - and the Freedom Tower rising to spite the atrocity.
